2008 to Now: The DaMatrix Studios Story

Role: Technical Partner & Digital Architect, Ongoing Since 2008

    How It All Began

“How It All Began” has been part of several DSN campaigns over the years — a nod to the studio’s rich history of operations and the guests who came through in the early days. DWI has interviewed names like J. Cole, Cardi B, and Nipsey Hussle over the studio’s run, part of a legacy that’s earned him the nickname “The Podfather.”

I met Damien “DWI” Williams online in 2008, back on Stickam — he was live streaming radio, interacting with his chat in real time, and giving his audience a behind-the-scenes look at engineering a show called The A&R Report. I followed him for weeks, genuinely into what he was building.

One day he mentioned he needed a website. At the time I was working night shifts as a security guard, so I coded him one overnight and delivered it the next morning. He told me straight up that he didn’t love the site — but that I was his guy. That was it. We’ve been partners and friends ever since.

Somewhere along the way, our shared obsession with The Matrix became part of the partnership’s identity too — DaMatrix Studios takes its name from the films, and to this day, DWI calls me “The Oracle” while going by “Morpheus” himself.

    Nearly Two Decades of Building

What started as one website turned into an ongoing, informal partnership that’s spanned close to twenty years. Over that time, I’ve been DaMatrix’s go-to person for anything web or PC related:

    • Built and rebuilt his website across several iterations, including his current site and the one currently in progress
    • Set up digital infrastructure — email systems and the operational backbone behind the business
    • Managed his social media presence across platforms
    • Built a mobile app for the business
    • Provided remote computer troubleshooting whenever something broke

Beyond the technical work, I’ve also been a long-running sounding board and brainstorming partner for his business direction — the kind of relationship where you’re thinking through problems together, not just executing tasks handed down.

    Where Things Stand Now

The partnership is as active today as it’s ever been. Current work includes:

A new site build, following the previous version I completed.

A rebrand of DSN (DaMatrix Studios Network) structured around his 3 Ps framework for podcast production: Produce, Perform, Promote.

A manuscript, written with AI assistance, for a potential book — one that’s now being used as the foundation for a new business plan, social strategy, website direction, and day-to-day operational assets.

    The Takeaway

This is the longest-running relationship in my portfolio, and it’s taught me the most about what real partnership looks like: showing up consistently, being useful across whatever the business actually needs at the time — not just the skills you’d put on a resume — and sticking with someone through the slow years, not just the visible wins. DWI is loyal to the people he considers his own, and I’ve tried to earn that the same way, one project at a time.
